Olivia Dunne hopes it's a matter of time until her boyfriend Paul Skenes - the hugely exciting MLB pitching prospect - finally makes his debut in the big leagues.

Skenes has been dominating for Triple-A Indianapolis and while the Pittsburgh Pirates want to be patient with their 21-year-old protege, it doesn't seem like they can keep him down for too much longer.

His girlfriend since last summer, the LSU gymnast and TikTok star Olivia Dunne, is already preparing as if his MLB debut is just around the corner.

Speaking to TMZ, she said: 'He's a great guy and we support each other through everything. He definitely makes me a better person.

'I have no clue (when his MLB debut will fall). I hope soon! I'm starting to get all my merch ready. I have my outfits picked out.'

Skenes spearheaded an Indianapolis win over St Paul Saints last Thursday, throwing 34 pitches of 100 miles per hour or greater in 3.1 innings.

He threw eight strikeouts, while only giving up one hit and two walks, in his fourth start of the season.

Skenes fastest pitch reached 102.1mph on the evening, with the biggest outstanding question being when Pittsburgh will call him up to the big-league squad.

Dunne, meanwhile, has enjoyed her own success in gymnastics recently with her LSU team winning their first ever NCAA Gymnastics Championship at the weekend.

She faces a big question about her own future now, though, with a fifth year of college eligibility on offer due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an interview with TODAY earlier this week, Dunne said: 'It definitely makes me want to come back, but I haven't quite thought about it completely.

'I've just been focused on the now and winning this national title, so I'll definitely start thinking about it.'
